New England Reflections (Cont.): The Platypus Travels Part XXXI
Roads go ever, ever on
Down from the door where they began
Now far ahead the road has gone
And I must follow if I can
It is a dangerous business stepping out of one's door. You put your foot into a road and, before you know it, you're swept away. Why this very road is the same one that leads to the Pacific Ocean and the Red Wood Forest, to the jungles of Africa or the halls of Oxford, to bustling Houston or sprawling L.A.
I walked out my door and stepped into a road...
Down from the door where they began
Now far ahead the road has gone
And I must follow if I can
